Orange Personal Communications Ltd

Reason for annoyance:

"Orange sucks because it still doesn't offer an uncapped data package, doesn't bother answering its phones to customers within a reasonable timescale and is generally piss-poor."

by Andy

About Orange:

Ridiculously lame French telephone company trying to compete in the British market against competent firms.

In 1994, the UK mobile phone market was confusing, complex, inflexible and expensive. Digital networks had just been introduced but few people understood the benefits. Complex tariffs and high prices made cellular phones only attractive to business customers.

Orange had an ambitious aim when it launched in April 1994 – to become the first choice in mobile communications. As the fourth company to enter an already crowded marketplace, it needed to establish itself as radically different if it was to succeed.

FACT: Orange is more irritating than Talk Talk but less irritating than Mystery Shoppers

You may also find iPhone , N-Power , Talk Talk , Using mobile phone while driving and Ikea irritating.

I've been a customer for going on 5 years now and im extrememly happy with the customer service. I have always managed to negotiate better deals than advertised and enjoy a loyalty bonus discount. Magic numbers and orange wednesdays make it worth while. The only gripes I have are paying £15 admin fee when claiming on the insurance and additional charges for non direct debit and itemised bills.

Bell-end?

"It's funny how it's always the bell-ends who complain about Orange"

Hmmm... Sorry mate, I was commenting from personal experience. They suck.

With a high monthly spend they initially put me on Orange Premier which offered a better level of service. They soon scrapped that and the service became dire.

T-Mobile on the other hand don't have a premier service. Their service has been absolutely exemplary in the last two years and they have impressed me every time I have needed to contact them.

I don't care much for who supplies such a basic service, but I would speak highly of T-Mob to anyone who asks. After the dire service at Orange, I'd equally tell anyone who'll listen to avoid this company.

Are Orange trying to 'big up' their own company by leaving messages on How Irritating?

Just re-joined Orange after 8 years with O2 (then known as BT Cellnet). And I have to say the service has been fantastic so far. I haven't had a problem with their customer services team, the longest i've been kept on hold (waiting for a member of staff to answer) was 15 seconds. I was also really impressed when I contacted Orange via e-mail about my bill. After 4 minutes of the e-mail being sent, I received a phone call from their customer services department with an answer to my query. Now that's fantastic.
I'll keep you updated if I ever have any problems, but so far so good!

Orange customer service

Had to ring them twice to resolve daily delivery of their "You did not top up enough last month to get free evening calls..." message.
Call centre in India, with a guy who struggled to grasp the problem, so bounced me over to the UK -the UK agent sent me a service message.
Second call, India again -this guy seemed to get the idea, but not sure if solved yet -I'll find out tomorrow.
What p****s me off is the fact that I've paid for the calls to stop a repeated message delivery from *their* system.
Now that I know they send my customer service call to India, they'll lose my business altogether.

the only option on their customer service 'please press 1 for..' menu that ever gets answered is the 'if you're thinking of leaving orange...' one. Fact.
